Nutritional Advantages ![]() The reason we combine organic certified practices with pasture production is because we personally feel it is the best tasting and most nutritious meat ever! The Mother Earth News April/May 2002 issue describes 1999 scientific research of grass fed meat that found the meat to have more vitamin E, beta-carotene and cancer-fighting fatty acids than factory farm products. Omega-3 fatty acids are created in the green leaves of plants, where they are essential for photosynthesis. When animals eat lots of greens they naturally accumulate more of these essential fats in their bodies. In clinical research, CLA, conjugated linoleic acid,boosts the immune system and shrinks tumors. A recent study in Cancer Research journal showed that animals that got 1.5% of calories containing CLA had a 60% reduction in tumor growth. Mother Earth News reported that in a Finnish study, the more CLA in a woman's diet, the lower her risk of breast cancer, that women who consumed the most CLA had an amazing 60% lower risk. Don't confuse organic certification with pasture production of meat. The organic label doesn't guarantee that animals spent most of their time on pasture. It only means that the animals didn't receive antibiotics, hormones and that their feed was organic certified. In February 2004, we voluntarily pledged to test all beef for BSE and are waiting for the USDA to allow us to do this. In contrast, meat labeled "natural" can be raised on pesticide-treaded GMO feed, irradiated and raised in confinement or feedlots. Natural labels do not require any independent farm inspections.
